# What are Network Fees?

## Why is SUI Coin needed when sending or converting digital assets?

Every blockchain transaction requires a certain fee. Since all transactions on the Pebble service are based on the **SUI blockchain**, you need to hold SUI Coins in your wallet to cover the transaction fees.

Blockchain transactions are made without intermediaries, and once the transaction information is recorded, it cannot be modified or tampered with. Thanks to this characteristic, blockchain transactions are highly transparent and secure.
